With the right signings, this summer, Liverpool could be very close to bringing a Premier League title to Anfield. Jurgen Klopp has already got off to a great start this summer with the arrivals of Fabinho and Naby Keita but the clubs will likely be after a few more additions. If Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can return from injury and be anything like his best, Liverpool could very well have one of the best teams in Europe.
After starting his Liverpool career off to a slightly poor start, the former Arsenal man gradually became a prominent figure in Klopp’s side. Having spent years at Arsenal stagnating, Oxlade-Chamberlain finally began to consistently show his true potential. The midfielder finally got his long-term wish and was played in central midfield where his pace, dynamism and energy fit Klopp’s style of play perfectly.
Unfortunately, as the season drew to a close, Oxlade-Chamberlain picked up a knee ligament injury which ruled him out for the final three games of the Premier League and also England’s World Cup campaign.
As it stands, the midfielder is expected to return from injury in October and if he can come back to full fitness, a midfield trio of Fabinho, the Ox and Keita could be devastating. With Fabinho at the base providing cover for the defence, Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain would be allowed to roam free and support the devastating front three.
There have always been question marks about if the Ox can finally fulfil his potential. In a Klopp side, it seemed more than likely that he will. If Liverpool can get him back from injury fit and firing, he could be one of the last pieces in Klopp’s dream-team.
