Liverpool have been a level above everyone else in the Premier League up until this point, with the title finally heading to Anfield if they keep on grinding out positive results.
The Reds also have Champions League football to worry about with German giants Bayern Munich up next in the knockout stages, so there’s still plenty of chances to secure silverware.
Indeed, Jurgen Klopp and FSG have secured a number of incredible transfer moves over the past few years at Liverpool, but arguably their best in recent times has to be the capture of Virgil Van Dijk for £75 million.
Van Dijk has quickly established himself as one of the best defenders in world football, and arguably the best central defender in the Premier League. He played a massive part in getting Liverpool to the Champions League final last season and he is currently spearheading their Premier League title push. The Dutchman has managed to solve Liverpool’s biggest defensive problem in years, so his efforts really have been priceless.
However, it appears as if Liverpool are interest in securing the services of another quality player, as according to Anfield Press, the Reds have sent a scout to watch Ciro Immobile play for Lazio against Napoli on Sunday.
Liverpool haven’t exactly gotten the best out of Roberto Firmino this season, despite his recent upturn in form, so reinforcements in attacking areas will definitely be required at some point in the future.
The Italian international was prolific last season, producing an incredible 41 goals in 47 appearances as one of the most prolific strikers in the whole of world football. And, this season’s stats aren’t looking too bad either, having found the back of the net 13 times and provided seven assists.
Interestingly, the 28-year-old managed to match Mohamed Salah stride for stride last season, as the Egyptian only scored three goals more in five more appearances, so both players are up their among the world’s best attackers.
Immobile is someone who doesn’t shy away from the big occasions and he has proved throughout his career that he can score an outrageous amount of goals, so bringing him into an attack that already involves Sadio Mane and Salah would make the Reds an unstoppable force going forward.
