Liverpool are unbeaten in the Premier League after a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the weekend.

The result leaves Liverpool joint top of the Premier League with Manchester City after six wins and one draw from the opening seven fixtures. Jurgen Klopp splashed the cash in the summer to bring the likes of Naby Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker to the club. The latter was particularly impressive against the Blues, producing a number of fine saves to keep his side in the game.

It was the first time the Brazilian had been called into action during his Liverpool career, and the Anfield faithful will be pleased to see their new signing look great. His arrival at the club forced Loris Karius out on loan and also left Simon Mignolet stuck on the substitutes bench. The Belgian was vocal over his need for first-team football and should be allowed to leave when the January transfer window opens.

To replace him, Liverpool should seek a cut-price deal for Standard Liege stopper – Guillermo Ochoa. Valued at £3.6m by Transfermarkt, the 33-year-old rose to prominence in 2014 following a string of heroic performances for Mexico at the World Cup – earning the Silver Gloves award for his showings. Ochoa was also impressive between the sticks in Russia during the summer.

At club level, Ochoa plays in the Belgium league but has just one year on his contract with Liege. Despite the club having the option to extend his deal for a further year, the Mexican could surely be tempted into a move to Anfield with Liverpool having a great chance to win some silverware this season.

While he wouldn’t be the most glamorous of signings, Ochoa would prove to be a decent back up for Alisson.
