‘He is a complete Liverpool player’ – Reds fans on Twitter urge club to sign Champions League hero

While the weekend loss to Manchester United still annoys some of the punters propping up our bar, the Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern were delighted to see their bitter rivals knocked out of the Champions League last night. With the Reds still firing on that front, watching the Red Devils bow out in fairly pathetic fashion was thoroughly enjoyable for local Kopites.

As you can imagine, our local Liverpudlians were celebrating a certain Wissam Ben Yedder. Indeed, the Frenchman bagged a brace to eliminate United at Old Trafford last night after coming on as a second-half substitute, continuing his strong scoring record against English opposition in the Champions League this season.

The 27-year-old actually notched three times against Liverpool in the group stages and, while he was certainly their enemy during those two games, endeared himself to the Anfield faithful with his exploits at the Theatre of Dreams. In fact, so much so, that many are calling for him to be signed!

Indeed, Liverpool fans took to Twitter to urge the club to make a move for the former Toulouse man. Some of it may be tongue in cheek perhaps, though he’d certainly be an interesting option to supplement the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane next season…

With that in mind, here’s a closer look at the reaction online.
