Reports from Holland have suggested that Utrecht will consider the offer over the week and given an answer after careful consideration.
Van Wolfswinkel had been linked with a move to Anfield in the summer, but no formal approach was ever made for the hotshot. This season however, the Dutch striker has come to life; he’s struck 11 times in just 17 appearances so far and will have certainly caught Hodgson’s eye. The versatile forward has been winning plaudits worldwide for his performances and has been dubbed “The New Van Basten”.
The 21-year-old impressed Liverpool players when Utrecht met the Merseyside club in the Europa League, though Van Wolfswinkel failed to score on either occasion as the pair played out two 0-0 draws.
Liverpool will certainly face competition in the race for the Dutch youngster’s signature with scouts from Italy and Germany said to be following the forward. Though, the Reds have been first to table any bid for the striker’s services and express their intent.
