There’s nothing the punters in the Transfer Tavern enjoy quite as much as a footballing cult hero, other than Happy Hour obviously.
While they may not always be the most gifted technicians in the world, those individuals who manage to claw their way into the hearts of fans and neutrals alike and firmly nestle in will always live long in Tavern tales.
Imagine the disappointment then when our Liverpool supporting locals in this evening heard reports from the Daily Mail that Kolo Toure would not be offered a new deal and looks set to leave Anfield.
The Ivorian has been a hugely popular player for well over a decade in the Premier League, having played for the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal too.
A solid defender when on song, the 35-year old fails to hit the right note on occasion and can appear a tad a lumbering and lackadaisical in equal measure.
Still, he’s undoubtedly achieved cult hero status on Merseyside since arriving from City on a free in 2013, finishing second in the league under Brendan Rodgers two years ago.
What has been your favourite Kolo moment over the years?
