‘I see Ferguson’ – Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Steven Gerrard’s comments

Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments made by club legend, Steven Gerrard after the club’s U19s crashed out of the UEFA Youth League on penalties yesterday after drawing 1-1 with Manchester City U19’s in 120 minutes.

The defeat for Gerrard’s defiant young Red’s means they won’t be advancing to the tournament’s semifinals in April, although the youngsters can still be proud of their achievements, having reached the last eight of Europe’s most prestigious youth tournament at club level. Gerrard’s side overcame Manchester United’s U19s in the round-of-sixteen, but couldn’t overcome the other half of Manchester as a crushing penalty shootout loss ended their run in the competition.

Despite the loss, the tournament experience is no doubt going to be a good thing for the young Kopites as they take their first steps as professional footballers. The comments made by former captain, Steven Gerrard, have prompted a number of replies from our resident Reds, congratulating their young side and looking ahead, hoping Gerrard will one day be given the managerial hot seat for the Liverpool first team.
