Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern could be set to lose one of their best players this summer, as he looks to earn a bumper salary abroad.
And that’s because, according to reports by Calcio Mercato, influential midfielder Emre Can is edging closer to completing a deal with Juventus, where he is expected to sign a five-year deal worth just over 5 million euros a year.
He has reportedly been told by boss Massimiliano Allegri that he will be a key player for the Serie A outfit, despite the manager’s own future remaining unclear, what with reports linking him with taking over from Arsene Wenger at Arsenal this summer.
The two parties have been conducting negotiations over an extended period of time – however, it is believed that Can has instructed his entourage to head to Turin to reach an agreement regarding his future, which would thus see him become an Old Lady player for next season.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Liverpool fans in the Tavern will likely be disappointed to see Can go, with many hoping that their run to the Champions League final would have been enough to convince him to stay at Anfield.
The locals will have also wanted to have generated a fee for a player of the 24-year-old’s ability – however, it appears he may have already played his last game for the club as he continues to suffer from a back problem.
