Liverpool managed to stay top of the Premier League with a narrow win over Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

Goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino handed Liverpool a two-goal advantage heading into the break. Despite dominating the early stages, Liverpool were unable to control the game after the interval and Leicester got one back following a blunder from Alisson Becker. The goalkeeper was caught in possession, and Rachid Ghezzal punished his mistake to get the Foxes back in it, but it proved to be too little, too late.

While Liverpool’s performance left much to be desired, one man, in particular, caught the eye – James Maddison. Valued at £19.8m by Transfermarkt, the playmaker was expected to make a move to the Premier League after scoring 14 goals for Norwich. Reports suggested that Liverpool were interested in the youngster before Leicester secured his services for £25m. Following a blistering start to life in the Premier League, Klopp should attempt to sign the 21-year-old in January.

Maddison netted his first goal of the season against Wolves and Klopp witnesses his quality first hand at the weekend. The England U21 international ensured Jordan Henderson had a torrid time during his first start of the season. He completed three key passes against the Reds and remarkably completed 25 passes in the final third (WhoScored). With Liverpool struggling to find their rhythm so far this season, Maddison could be the perfect addition to the squad.

He wouldn’t come cheap as Leicester will be unwilling to lose their prized asset so early into his career with the Foxes. With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out for the season, Maddison can be the man to add some much-needed spark in the engine room.
