It’s been a strong start to the season for big spending Liverpool, who have beaten both West Ham United and Crystal Palace during their opening two Premier League fixtures after their biggest ever summer rebuild. Indeed, we’re still early on in the season, though it’s hard for anyone to doubt that Jurgen Klopp’s men are looking good.
Summer signings Naby Keita and Alisson Becker have impressed after slotting seamlessly into the Reds’ new-look side, though it’s been a different story for another one of their big-name arrivals. Fabinho, who arrived from Monaco for a substantial amount of money, has had to wait for his chance in the Liverpool midfield, with the evergreen James Milner turning back the years in that position.
Few would have expected the former Manchester City man, now 32, to continue having such an important role after Liverpool’s recruitment over the last few months, though it’s got to the point where we’ve asked Liverpool fans whether or not they’d like to see Fabinho brought in this afternoon against Brighton.
Interestingly enough, just 37% of polled Kopites are keen to see Milner replaced by the South American later today, giving you an indication on the ex-England star’s standing on Merseyside right now.
Liverpool have options at last and it just so happens James Milner is the best of them.
