Jonathan Bamba: Perfect for Liverpool’s rampant attack - Liverpool

Liverpool fans will be pleased to see their side well and truly in the Premier League title race heading into the second international break.

The Reds are yet to taste defeat in the Premier League, navigating tricky fixtures against Tottenham, Chelsea, Paris St Germain and Manchester City in recent weeks. Jurgen Klopp will be disappointed to crash out of the Carabao Cup and suffer defeat in Europe at the hands of Napoli. Nevertheless, two wins against Red Star Belgrade would put them in a fantastic position to qualify for the knockout stages.

The January transfer window is still some time away, but Klopp should definitely be monitoring players who could add to his squad in the New Year. The German is not afraid to spend during the mid-season window, splashing £75m on Virgil van Dijk back in January earlier this year. One man who should be on his shortlist is Lille winger – Jonathan Bamba.

Valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt, the Ivorian went under the radar in the summer, joining Lille on a free transfer from St Etienne after a very respectable season. However, at his new employers, Bamba has found another gear. The youngster has been in red-hot form in Ligue 1 this season with seven goals and one assist to his name already – Klopp and his scouts should be taking in his performances.

The 22-year-old plays from the left wing but loves to cut inside onto his right foot – similar to Sadio Mane. Bamba is also comfortable on the right and would provide excellent cover for Liverpool’s wingers while offering Klopp a useful option on the bench. Under the former Borussia Dortmund manager’s leadership, he could develop into one of the world’s best wide players.

Should his impressive performances continue, Liverpool must try to lure him to Anfield.
