Liverpool fans here in the Tavern are hoping to see their fine run of form continue, as they face Rafa Benitez and his Newcastle United side at the weekend.
Indeed, Jurgen Klopp’s decision-making has caused many problems for the Reds so far this season, with hostile crowds flooding into Anfield to witness some lackluster football at times. Although, the biggest problem in the eyes of many of our local Liverpudlians is the German’s choice to gift captain Jordan Henderson a regular starting place, something that’s seen the Liverpool midfield come under fire on numerous occasions this season. And, it appears that Klopp is set to keep his faith in the Englishman, as according to reports in the Liverpool Echo, Jordan Henderson is poised for a recall against Newcastle United on Saturday.
The England international was left out of the weekend’s 4-1 victory over West Ham United as a precaution, but has trained normally and is now poised for a recall. Indeed, a decision that won’t go down too well with the Anfield faithful, after seeing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain make the central midfield role his own in the captain’s absence.
Jordan Henderson has had a season to forget in many respects, with inconsistencies and a lack of quality turning the midfielder into more of a villain on Merseyside. However, one positive to take away from the return of the 27-year-old is that the Reds could have every member of their first-team squad available.
Jordan Henderson’s return will be greeted with a rather disappointing response, after witnessing the poor performances that the Liverpool captain has produced so far this season. Although, this will provide an added squad depth in the Reds’ ranks at one of the most crucial times in their season. But, dropping Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for the Englishman could see critics place Jurgen Klopp in the firing line once again.
