Jurgen Klopp should take initiative and hand Daniel Sturridge a spot in the starting lineup when his charges travel to Watford on Saturday while giving the out of sorts Roberto Firmino a rest.

The Brazilian has been quite off the pace this season, scoring only four goals in 17 matches in all competitions, while his recent matches for his country have also suggested that he is out of form.

Firmino was subbed off at half-time in Brazil's 1-0 win over Cameroon on Tuesday evening with Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus coming on and the Liverpool manager could be forced to make a similar decision if the Reds were to put in a confident performance against the Hornets.

The 27-year-old Firmino formed a key part of Liverpool's deadly attacking trio last season with Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah on his flanks, but this season has seen them less lethal in front of goal, with the striker, in particular, struggling to make a real impact.

Sturridge though, has looked rejuvenated and full of energy since August and has scored some extremely important goals for the club so far. A goal in their opening round Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain sent Liverpool on their way to a 3-2 win at Anfield, while his spectacular strike at Stamford Bridge at the end of September secured a valuable point against Chelsea.

Last season's Champions League finalists should be at their best to avoid a shock result at Watford who have proven that they're quite a force to be reckoned with this season. Liverpool, therefore, can't afford to have someone like Firmino, who is lacking confidence, to bring them down or squander chances,  and should rather let Sturridge put pressure on the opposition defenders and make runs in behind them.

The England international's aerial threat is also a very strong point of his game and could be pivotal in the game that might be tightly contested.
