Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have been getting excited all day over reports from the continent that hint one of their major targets would be open to a move to Anfield.
Shalke winger Max Meyer, who has been linked with a move to Merseyside this summer has been speaking of his admiration for Jurgen Klopp and the possibility of a move to Liverpool in the future.
Speaking to German website, Kicker, the winger said:
“I know from the past that he appreciates me as a player.”
“After my first derby against BVB—scoring a goal when I was 18—he has publicly expressed praise for me,” the 20-year-old added.
However, the German international played down talk of a move this summer, stating that he was happy where he is:
“I am very happy at Schalke and I’m still very young,”
“I have many more years ahead of me as a player…It is not that I absolutely have to play near my home until the end of my career.”
The Shalke man scored five Bundesliga goals in 35 appearances last season.
Liverpool fans, what do you make of this?! Could this mean that Meyer could be tempted to Anfield this summer? Let us know below…
