While the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern had to deal with their North West neighbours waxing lyrical about their summer spending, they appear to be pretty happy with their own.
Jurgen Klopp has now been able to mould a squad together in his own image, a mouth-watering prospect for the Merseyside locals in this evening.
Though it was a relatively quiet Deadline Day for the Reds, reports from the Liverpool Echo suggest the charismatic German coach has ALREADY got his eye on further squad reinforcements.
They suggest that, after failing to land Borussia Dortmund midfielder Chrisitan Pulisic and Borussia Monchengladbach ace Mahmoud Dahoud, the pair remain on the club’s radar.
The latter is expected to leave the Bundesliga next summer as he enters the final year of his deal, while the former was reported by ESPN to have been the subject of a snubbed bid from the Kop titans.
Still, Klopp is believed to retain an interest in the 20-year-old and the 17-year-old respectively, viewing them as long-term targets.
Having signed a six-year deal earlier in the summer, the 49-year-old is clearly in it for the long haul.
