As if Jurgen Klopp couldn’t get any more popular amongst the Liverpool supporting punters in the Transfer Tavern, the German now appears to be finally addressing a long running issue at Anfield.
After Alberto Moreno’s nightmare in Basel, there have been growing calls for the club to buy a new left-back after years of frustrating emanating out of that particular berth.
The Spaniard was a big money signing under Brendan Rodgers, though has failed to wholly convince when tasked with the most remote of defensive duties.
With that in mind, the Reds are reportedly ready to battle Borussia Dortmund in a battle to land Lorient defender Raphael Guerreiro.
Considering the relative dearth of top quality operators in the full-back role, the Portuguese international is thought to be a hot property.
The 22-year old has scored three goals in 34 games this season, emerging as one of the most solid available full-backs on the continent.
Now, Lorient vice-president Alex Hayes has told Ouest France that Les Merlus have receieved a number of offers for their star, confirming one from the Merseyside giants in the process.
‘He will only be transferred if a club makes an offer that we can’t refuse’, he revealed.
‘For the moment four major foreign clubs, including Dortmund and Liverpool, have made an offer.’
How vital is it that Liverpool sign a new left-back this summer?
