The Jurgen Klopp train appeared to slow right down for the Liverpool punters in the Transfer Tavern following their bore draw with North West rivals Manchester United last night.
What was touted as one of the biggest games in the Premier League season served as a monumental disappointment, with the Reds struggling to impose any of the attacking fluidity that’s made them so fun to watch this term.
One of the major problems for the Merseyside titans appeared to be their lack of an out-and-out centre-forward or true focal point in attack.
England international Daniel Sturridge has come in for criticism of late and the 27-year-old was hauled off with just over half an hour to go last night after a largely ineffective performance.
Still, the charismatic German coach has jumped to the former Chelsea man’s defence, sharing his sympathy with the marksman.
Despite his isolation for swathes of the game, Klopp believes the complexion of the game didn’t help a forward.
“In the first half Phil made a brilliant run and wanted to pass to Daniel but Mane was free on the right.”
How far has Sturridge’s stock fallen of late? Let us know below…
