Alberto Moreno’s performance in the Europa League final has been lamented amongst the Reds in the Transfer Tavern both often and loudly, amid Jurgen Klopp’s summer overhaul.
Though the Anfield goers are excited to welcome attacking talents such as Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, the Spaniard’s ongoing presence on Merseyside as one of the only recognised left-backs is serving as a source of fear.
Clearly, the club have been linked with a number of options in those berths, including German international Jonas Hector.
However, the more eagle eyed punters in the bar this evening has spotted reports emanating out of Germany suggesting a deal for the 26-year old could be off.
According to German outlet Kicker, the defender is close to penning a new contract with current club FC Koln.
He has spent six years with Die Geißböcke and is thought to have snubbed the notion of leaving Cologne.
“We will discuss the issue internally”, said Hector, who is under contract until 2018.
”There is no stress.”
