Liverpool may not be able to compete with their North West neighbours in terms of stratospheric transfer fees, though the Reds in the Transfer Tavern have been hugely excited by Jurgen Klopp’s Anfield overhaul.
Still, that’s not to say the former Borussia Dortmund coach has taken a backseat in the transfer market, with the likes of £32m Sadio Mane and £25m Georginio Wijnaldum having arrived.
While those two in particular have excited our Merseyside locals, they’ve expressed slight concerns over the idea their squad could yet be a little top heavy.
Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip have arrived to bolster the backline, so reports from the Sun claiming Klopp could finally bring in a left-back have come much to our punters’ delight.
They suggest that Lyon ace Jordy Gaspar is on his radar this summer in an effort to improve his full-back ranks. Though hugely rated in France, the 19-year old is actually yet to appear in a first-team game with Les Gones.
Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen are also understood to be casting keen eyes over his situation.
It is further reported (via L’Equipe) that the defender is open to the idea of a move to Merseyside, in order to link up with Klopp.
Surely Klopp should be looking at more experienced options at left-back this summer? Let us know below…
