Klopp to re-enter market as Liverpool hunt Moreno replacement

Having signed seven players already, the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have had plenty to sink their teeth into this summer.

While the signing of Georginio Wijnaldum looked to be the last to be ushered through the Anfield doors, reports from the Daily Mail suggest otherwise.

Following an injury to Alberto Moreno (and we’re not talking about his haircut), Jurgen Klopp is reportedly ready to make further additions.

Mamadou Sakho, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are also injury concerns ahead of their opener against Arsenal, prompting the German coach to cast his eyes over potentials replacements.

German international left-back Jonas Hector is understood to be under consideration ahead of a £20m move from FC Cologne as the Merseyside giants gear up for the new season.

Defensive frailty was a sewing motif for the 49-year old boss last term, and despite his embarrassment of riches in attacking berths, he has hinted he could be on the lookout once more.

‘Is the activity all over? I have no idea. I don’t think so. We will see what happens”, said the former Borussia Dortmund coach.

‘What you saw (in St Louis against Roma) was an example of how you can’t defend; leaving spaces so big you could have cut grass in between.

‘Their strikers did okay but we were too wide, too deep and too far from each other so each pass they played was a chance.”
