Liverpool fans have been reacting in fury to reports that the Reds would consider a move to re-sign Philippe Coutinho.
Mundo Deportivo revealed that the Catalan giants are willing to sell the 27-year-old for as little as £67m – less than half of the £142m fee that they paid for him originally. Indeed, it’d be fair to say things have not gone to plan for the Brazil international in that he had a tough first season in Spain and was loaned out to Bayern Munich, where he has scored just six goals in 19 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit.
Having identified Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz as Jurgen Klopp’s top target, the Express via the Liverpool Echo said that the former Red will be the German tactician’s plan B if a move fails to materialise. Supporters were not impressed with the prospect of having Coutinho back at Anfield and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he did not want to hear this “nonsense” any longer following previous links with the Brazilian in the summer.
