Liverpool have been exceptional right from the get-go this season, with a strong pre-season resulting in a good start to the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp has built a team that looks extremely strong, allowing his side to be considered among the best equipped to challenge Manchester City for their throne. Naby Keita, Fabinho, Alisson and Shaqiri are all top draw signings that improve the Reds and it was vital the recruitment was right this summer, as they hope to build on a 4th place finish, as well as a Champions League final.

However, there wasn't a great deal of transfer activity in regards to players leaving the club as some say this should have been the perfect time for Liverpool to cash in on Lazar Markovic, a player valued at £7.2 million on Transfermarkt.

The winger has never really settled at Anfield, consequently being shipped out on-loan for a number of times since his move to Liverpool in 2014. Last season was just the same except this time he was playing for Belgian champions Anderlecht but only managed to make 7 appearances, scoring once and providing a single assist as well.

Things just haven't worked out for Liverpool and Markovic and although you can always continue to try, it would certainly be better for the Serbian to look for a permanent move away from Anfield. On his day it's no wonder that he was always regarded as a special talent but that affection has worn off on fans, who now realise that with the way Liverpool are progressing, Lazar Markovic shouldn't be a player in contention for their squad.

Obviously, he could move abroad before the 31st August, but the Reds should have looked to shift him a lot earlier in the window.
