Legend’s Liverpool move could be delayed until next season, one more playing contract may happen

While Chelsea may well have knocked them off their perch at the top of the Premier League, the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been in joyous mood of late.

Under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have morphed into genuine title contenders and the notion of seeing them win a first league title in over two decades is a realistic possibility again.

So, spare a thought for Steven Gerrard.

The England legend infamously never won the league during his otherwise stellar spell at Anfield and is leaving LA Galaxy after a relatively mediocre stint in the MLS.

While the 36-year-old is believed to have turned down the chance to manage MK Dons, Bleacher Report claim he could be open to one last short-term contract as a player.

Could it really happen?

Well, both Newcastle United and Celtic have been touted as potential landing spots and the report claims a move into Liverpool’s coaching system is far more likely heading into the start of next season.

He’s understood to have offers from both on and off the pitch and it’s likely he will mull over his decisions during the New Year, though sponsors Adidas are believed to be keen for him to get one last playing deal while he can.
