‘Let him rot’, ‘Better than our captain’ – Liverpool fans on Twitter mixed in response to club’s post

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to their sides return to the Premier League this weekend.

Liverpool welcome Mauricio Pochettino’s goal-shy Southampton to Anfield this weekend, knowing that anything less than a win will be a huge disappointment to the Reds faithful. Prior to the international break, Liverpool were in potent attacking form in the Premier League and Jurgen Klopp will be keen to ensure that his side can extend their winning league run to three games with victory over the Saints this weekend.

However, The Reds chances took a blow yesterday with the news that Senegalese star Sadio Mane had suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury whilst on international duty.

Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic was also on International duty this week for the first time since June 2016, and Liverpool paid tribute to their 21-year-old midfielder via their official Twitter page earlier today.

Liverpool signed Grujic from Red Star Belgrade in January 2016, but his first-team opportunities have been severely limited since his arrival on Merseyside. So far this season he has managed just 13 minutes of Premier League action in two cameo appearances for the club.

With Emre Can appearing unwilling to commit to his long-term future at the club, a handful of the Liverpool supporters are starting to demand that Grujic is given a genuine opportunity to prove himself in Klopp’s first-team in Can’s place.

Here’s what the fans had to say on Twitter…
