Much has been made about the goalkeeping conundrum at Anfield by the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern this season, with both Loris Karius AND Simon Mignolet coming in for criticism at times.
There’s little doubt the Reds’ side has some obvious frailties within it as they attempt to win a first Premier League title, with the lack of a strong option between the sticks often cited as one of the major ones.
Which is why reports from the Sun have proved so thought-provoking. They claim the Merseyside titans are one of three Premier League big boys casting keen eyes over Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who has been in mightily impressive form this term.
He’s a regular in the England squads and has made two appearances for the Three Lions, though the likes of Manchester City and Everton are also believed to retain an interest in the 30-year-old.
A product of the Manchester United academy, the stopper has around three years remaining on his deal with the Clarets. While a deal this month is reportedly unlikely, top bass in Lancashire would apparently expect bidding to start at no less than £15m.
Despite his roots with the Red Devils, the Liverpool fans in the Tavern believe the England international would be a solid signing.
