Liverpool maintained their four-point lead at the top of the Premier League following a thrilling 4-3 win against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

The Eagles took an early lead through Andros Townsend, but Liverpool responded excellently following the interval with two quickfire goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. Palace equalised through James Tomkins before Salah restored Liverpool’s lead shortly after. A late goal from Sadio Mane seemingly secured the points until Max Meyer netted to ensure a nervy ending for Jurgen Klopp.

The victory sees them maintain their current lead at the top of the table following Manchester City’s win against Huddersfield. Klopp will be pleased to see his side overcome plenty of adversity after falling behind and being reduced to ten-men following James Milner’s dismissal. One man, in particular, caught the eye against the Reds – Palace forward, Wilfried Zaha.

Valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, the Ivorian winger has been the main man at Selhurst Park since joining from Manchester United and was at his brilliant best on Merseyside. Zaha terrorised Milner on the left, beating him easily to cross for Townsend to set up the opener. The former England international simply couldn’t handle him and paid the price – receiving two yellow cards for two late challenges.

Zaha was described by Klopp as ‘world-class’ and the Ivory Coast would be a perfect fit for the German’s system. With Naby Keita struggling to impose himself on the left wing, the 26-year-old would give Liverpool another wonderful option in the final third. With blistering pace and silky skills, Zaha is a constant threat to defenders. The forward can play on either wing or as the central striker which will be extremely attractive to Klopp.

He deserves to be playing Champions League football and could prove to be a hero at Anfield.
