The Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are so very nervous ahead of their monumental clash with Roma in the Champions League tonight. Indeed, the Reds may take a three-goal lead into their trip to the Italian capital, but the nature of their set-up under Jurgen Klopp always has their fans fearing a potential defensive slip-up.
With that in mind, our local Liverpudlians are hoping all hands are on deck in the Stadio Olimpico tomorrow. Their side is fairly injury ravaged as it is as the Merseyside giants look to secure entry to their first Champions League final since 2007 and those decked out in the famous red jerseys in our bar hope there are no additions on the injury table.
However, a line in the Daily Express has caused a real worry. Indeed, they reveal that Sadio Mane is ‘uncertain’ to feature against the Giallorossi this evening, despite Jurgen Klopp previously believing he’d be ok for the game. Clearly, there’s a chance he could play, but missing out on 1/3rd of their wonderfully attacking frontline would be a real concern.
Mane, though overshadowed by Mo Salah this season, is a huge part of the club’s frontline and his searing pace would be a miss on what promises to be a huge night in Rome.
As you can imagine, our local Liverpool lot are praying he’s fit.
