Punters in the Football Transfer Tavern have just about finished laughing at the Liverpool fans in the bar over the sheer amount spent on Sadio Mane, but those of a Red persuasion could be set for more embarrassment as they may well miss out on a long standing transfer target.
Jurgen Klopp looked set to welcome Polish international Piotr Zielinski to Anfield in the coming days, however, Italian journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio, is now reporting that the deal has come to a halt, with other suitors taking an interest in the midfielder.
Liverpool have supposedly been speaking to the player since January, but now with the deal stalling Di Marzio has claimed that the 22-year-old could be set to move to Napoli, who have tabled a bid of £10.8m with add ons, including Colombian full-back Juan Zuniga.
Zielinski has spent the two seasons on loan at Empoli and netted five goals in 35 appearances during the last season and could be a real asset to Liverpool, with the ability to dictate the tempo of any game from the midfield.
Liverpool fans, let us know what you think! Would you like to see Zielinski at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp next season or is he not worth a bidding war with Napoli? Have your say below!
