Liverpool continuing to work on January deal during busy month at Anfield

It’s been a busy month for the Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern thus far after seeing deals for both Virgil van Dijk and Philippe Coutinho go through thus far, giving our resident Reds so much to talk about when propping up our bar.

Indeed, our local Kopites are in debate in regards to whether or not the team are any better now, compared to what they were 2 weeks ago and those who don’t believe so largely say one thing can change their mind. The punters who frequent in their droves reckon the potential early arrival of Naby Keita would go some way into replacing the dear departed brilliant Brazilian.

While the RB Leipzig man has already agreed to move to Anfield next summer, there have been recent suggestions that those on Merseyside are pushing ahead to wrap up a deal early. With that in mind, reports from ESPN have shed some more light on that matter.

They claim those behind the scenes at Liverpool are exploring the possibility of trying to bring the Gabon star to the club this month, however unlikely it may be.

As you can imagine, with Coutinho now gone, getting Keita in early to join van Dijk would be the perfect remedy.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Liverpool paid big money for Keita and the idea of splashing more money on him may not please fans too much. Liverpool certainly have the quality to finish in the top four this season and perhaps wasting some of the Coutinho money to land him six months early isn’t a popular one in our bar.
