While there are louder rivalries amongst the punters in the Transfer Tavern, raucous debate has erupted amongst both the Liverpool and the West Ham United fans propping up the bar.
That’s because reports from Italian outlet CalcioMercato suggest the Premier League pair are prepared to battle Italian giants AC Milan in order to sign a Champions League defender.
FC Copenhagen man Ludwig Augustinsson is said to be of interest to all three parties, with both the Hammers and the Reds said to have tried to land the 22-year-old over the course of the summer.
Reds chief Jurgen Klopp looks to have struck gold by deploying James Milner in that berth, though the former England international is surely not the long-term option desperately needed on Merseyside.
The Irons, meanwhile, saw their plans in that area rocked following Aaron Cresswell’s injury and while the recently-capped England international is now free for selection, could do with some healthy competition in east London.
