Still, news from BBC Sport suggesting influential defender Joel Matip could miss up to another SIX games across this busy period has caused concern. Since arriving on a free from Schalke this summer, the Cameroonian has been the best defender at Anfield and certainly brings a calmness to the rearguard.
However, the 25-year-old’s refusal to represent his country at the African Cup of Nations, despite not having played for the Indomitable Lions since September 2015, could reportedly see him not given clearance to add to his 14 Liverpool games until Cameroon are knocked out of the tournament.
Should they reach the final, the German-born defender wouldn’t be able to play until the clash with Spurs on Merseyside on February 11th at the earliest, causing some of the Kopites in the bar major concern today.
