Liverpool and Crystal Palace fans have spent the last couple of weeks in the Football Transfer Tavern exchanging notes on Christian Benteke as a move to London had appeared imminent, however, that may no longer be the case.
According to reports in the Evening Standard, Benteke’s agent, Kismet Eris, has claimed that the Belgian international is nowhere near a move away from Anfield.
It had been reported that the 25-year-old had agreed personal terms with The Eagles and that the only matter to be concluded was that of the final transfer fee, with the Reds looking to recoup the £32m they paid Aston Villa for the forward just a year ago.
However, Eris has told the Standard that there is “nothing in” the claims of a move to London being so close and that his client still has four years remaining on his current £120k a week deal on Merseyside.
Our Landlord was quick to point out however, that the former Villa man has never appeared to be too friendly with the Reds boss, Jurgen Klopp, who gave him a very public dressing down after his side’s 3-2 loss at Southampton last season.

With this in mind, a move away from the North West may well suit the forward, who made 29 appearances in the Premier League last season, scoring only 9 goals.
