The Football Transfer Tavern is a busy place in July, with plenty of rumours flying around for our shrewd staff to keep their eyes on, and they have noticed a lot going round concerning Liverpool recently.
Jurgen Klopp is heading into his first full season as the manager at Anfield and therefore is currently in the midst of carrying out a brutal overhaul of his squad ahead of the opening weekend of the Premier League.
One strongly linked with a move away from Merseyside is Serbian winger, Lazar Markovic, who is reportedly a target for Sporting Lisbon.
The Portuguese side were looking to bring the former Benfica man in on loan with an option to buy in the future, however, according to reports from Portuguese newspaper, Record (via Sport Witness), The Reds want to agree a permanent deal this summer a recoup most of the €25m they paid for him in 2014.
This move from Liverpool has effectively priced out Lisbon who cannot afford such a fee as well as the wages.
However, there is reportedly still interest in the 22-year-old from Fenerbahce, where he spent the last season on loan, and German side, Wolfsburg.
Liverpool fans, we want to hear from you! Should the club lower their asking price for Markovic in order to get him off the books or should he be given a chance by Klopp next season? Let us know below…
