Klopp’s former club comes to haunt him as Liverpool look set to lose out on deal for star

Liverpool may have edged past Borussia Dortmund in perhaps the most epic of Europa League encounters, though it could be the German giants that have the last laugh.

According to German publication Bildthe Bundesliga bastions have all but agreed a deal to land highly rated Rennes forward Ousmane Dembele this summer.

The French forward has been in excellent form this term, emerging as one of the hottest young properties on the continent.

A versatile attacker, the teenager has notched an impressive 12 goals this season, bringing him to the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Both the Reds and Spurs were believed to have retained an interest in him, though Dortmund are reportedly closing in on a deal.

A fee of around €5m is thought to have been agreed between the two parties and the highly rated teenager will complete a move to Signal Induna Park over the summer.

Questions have been raised in regards to Liverpool’s frontline despite the recent run of good form under Jurgen Klopp.

Christian Benteke has been linked with a move away, while the continued injury problems of Daniel Sturridge are never far from the fore.

Divock Origi arrived from Ligue 1 himself and has gone to become a key part of the first-team, though they look unable to replicate a similar deal in regards to Dembele.

Just how highly do you rate Dembele? Can he go on to huge things?
