Liverpool determined to land enigmatic windfall

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern were in raucous delight when Mario Balotelli was finally banished from Merseyside on Deadline Day.

After a miserable time of things at Anfield, the 26-year-old has moved a surprise move to Ligue 1 outfit Nice on a free transfer.

One of the most controversial figures in top level football for a number of years now, the Italian proved hugely ineffective for the Reds upon his arrival from AC Milan back in 2014.

However, though his signing will forever be touted as one of the worst in Premier League history, the Independent claims the Kop titans could still get something out of the move.

They suggest the club are in line for 30% of any fee the Ligue 1 club get should the former Manchester City and Inter Milan forward sort himself out.

Ex-Newcastle United playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa returned to form during his stint there last season, with the Azzurri international undoubtedly a top talent should he do the same.

While the Anfield drinkers aren’t exactly optimistic over him finding his form again, the mere notion of getting anything back from his dreadful move has come as welcome news.

Can Balotelli still salvage a career? Let us know below…
