News has reached the kitchen here at the Football Transfer Tavern that Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, has a big decision to make concerning a €25m deal for in demand winner, Lazar Markovic.
Our Portuguese chef has noticed that the front page of the newspaper Record (via Sport Witness), from his home country, today reads: ‘Sporting want Markovic’.
The Serbian winger has spent the last season away from Anfield on loan with Fenerbahce, making 14 appearances without a goal.
Following his loan spell the Turkish side reportedly had a bid of €25m rejected by Liverpool, who still believe the 22-year-old can play a big role on Merseyside.
Now, however, his former Benfica manager, Jorge Jesus – now with Sporting Lisbon – is looking to bring his former player to Portugal on a loan deal, as the club cannot currently afford his wages.
With the Reds having already bought in Sadio Mane from Southampton, Klopp has plenty of attacking options at his disposal, therefore another loan move may be on the cards for the Serbian international, however the final say lies with the former Borussia Dortmund manager.
Liverpool fans, we want to hear from you! Can Markovic still offer your club something or should Klopp look to sell him? Let us know below…
