Liverpool: Fans absolutely loved this moment from Jurgen Klopp

In the space of little more than a week, Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian has gone from being a free agent to playing a key part in the Reds’ latest European trophy win.

The 32-year-old Spaniard saved from Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham in last night’s UEFA Super Cup penalty shoot-out triumph, his stop ensuring that Liverpool would lift the trophy for the fourth time [via Sky Sports].

When being interviewed by BT Sport in the immediate aftermath of that victory, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp enthusiastically roared out: “Adrian…like Rocky”, as noted by Liverpool’s official Twitter channel, seemingly comparing the goalkeeper to Sylvester Stallone’s eponymous character from the Rocky films.

In the absence of Alisson, who went off injured in last week’s win against Norwich City and looks set to be sidelined for a number of weeks, Adrian has stepped into the goalkeeping void for Liverpool after joining just 10 days ago.

He hasn’t managed to keep a clean sheet in either of his appearances so far, but even before the penalty shoot-out last night he made a vital contribution to his team by pulling off four saves, including an excellent one-handed stop from Mason Mount in extra time.
