Loads of Liverpool fans congratulated youngster Layton Stewart after he secured the first professional contract of his career at Anfield.
The 17-year-old is a regular for the under-18 team, with 10 goals and four assists in 16 appearances in all competitions this season, and has been rewarded by the Reds with a full-time deal. Stewart was part of the matchday squad for the Carabao Cup quarter-final away to Aston Villa, where his side were beaten 5-0 on the night but gained vast amounts of experience from the encounter.
Stewart has also picked up three caps for England under-18s, for whom he made his debut last September, and has also played three times for Neil Critchley’s Liverpool under-23s, as per TransferMarkt. As a result, many supporters applauded Stewart for his achievement and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he wants midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum to sign a new deal next, while another stated that he “seems elite”.

Keep it up kid. Work hard and you’ll get your chances. That look on your face says you’re not finished here and that’s the right attitude. Keep pushing and improving #LFC
