Liverpool: Fans applaud Nathaniel Phillips’ efforts as he returns to Stuttgart on loan

Liverpool fans have applauded Academy graduate Nathaniel Phillips after he returned to Stuttgart on loan for the rest of the season.
The centre-back returned to the 2.Bundesliga club after he initially moved to them on loan in August, where he made 11 appearances. He was recalled by the Merseyside club after Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez were the only fit central defenders with both Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren both enduring respective spells on the sidelines (as per talkSPORT). Phillips was brought in to play in his side’s FA Cup third-round tie against Everton, which they won 1-0 thanks to a stunning strike from 18-year-old Curtis Jones.

With Matip back in first-team training and Lovren on his way to full fitness, the club’s official website announced that Phillips has been allowed to return to the German outfit to complete his loan spell and continue his development. Supporters were delighted with his efforts against their arch-rivals and made their feelings clear on social media.
