Liverpool: Fans call for Luis Garcia to come back after his tweet about December fixtures

Former Liverpool player Luis Garcia weighed in on the Reds’ extraordinary fixture congestion in December, jokingly offering his services to the club next month on Twitter [via @luchogarcia14].

Yesterday it was confirmed that Liverpool’s Carabao Cup quarter-final away to Aston Villa will be played on Tuesday December 17th, the day before the Reds are in action in the Club World Cup semi-finals in Qatar. [via Sky Sports]

The Anfield club agreed to the resolution and confirmed that they will field two playing squads simultaneously to complete the fixtures on the dates for which they are scheduled. [via liverpoolfc.com]

Following the resumption of the club season after this month’s international break, Liverpool will play 14 fixtures in five different competitions across a maximum of 45 days between November 23rd and, at the latest, January 6th. [via Sky Sports]

The Reds have already had to postpone their Premier League fixture away to West Ham, which had been scheduled for December 21st, the date on which the Reds will be playing in either the Club World Cup final or third place play-off.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter asked Garcia, who played 121 times for the club between 2004 and 2007, to make a comeback following his tongue-in-cheek remark:
