Liverpool took to Twitter today to remind the fans that 11 years ago today, Fernando Torres announced himself to the fans with his first hat-trick for The Reds. That stat is making the fans feel very old and also has the reminiscing over Torres’ brilliance.
— Liverpool FC (@LFC) 25 September 2018
Torres was idolised and adored on Merseyside by The Reds in his three and a half years with the club and whilst the fans are still heartbroken by the way the Spaniard left them back in January 2011, the good will outweigh the bad when it comes to the 34-year-old and his 81 goals and 20 assists in 142 appearances for the club will be looked back on with fondness.
It always help when a Liverpool striker makes a habit out of embarrassing Manchester United defenders and that is exactly what Torres did. The ex-Atletico Madrid captain made Nemanja Vidic look silly almost every time he played against the Serbian and the Kopites will always love looking back on games where Torres was unleashed against their bitter rivals. It may have been 11 years since Torres scored his first hat-trick, but the man is still in the Liverpool fans’ hearts even with the way it ended.

The most excited I've ever been for a transfer. Heard so much about him and Man Utds interest, felt like we were gonna take over the world!
