Liverpool: Fans congratulate Pepe Reina for his Premier League return - Liverpool

Liverpool fans have been sending their congratulations to former Reds shot-stopper Pepe Reina after he made his debut for Aston Villa during his side’s 1-1 draw against Brighton on Saturday.

The Villans were forced to share the spoils on the South Coast as they fought their way back from going 1-0 down in the first half. Leandro Trossard gave the home side the lead following a counter-attack led by Neal Maupay, who laid him off for a first-time shot. The away side had to wait patiently for their equaliser, and it came from Jack Grealish, who was found by Douglas Luiz’s long ball before finishing emphatically.

Villa boss Dean Smith said that Pepe Reina’s “charisma” has rubbed off on his team since his arrival from AC Milan on loan, (as per BBC Sport). The 37-year-old had not featured in a Premier League encounter since the final game of the 2012/13 season against Queens Park Rangers for the Reds. Supporters were delighted to see him back in England and made their feelings clear on social media.
