Former England international and now talkSPORT pundit Danny Mills has insisted that Jurgen Klopp has only won one trophy of significance as Liverpool manager.
The radio station’s Twitter channel @talkSPORT shared a clip of Mills’ comments in which he said that the UEFA Super Cup, which the Reds claimed in August following their Champions League triumph last season, is “not a proper trophy“.
“The Super Cup doesn’t count! It’s like the Community Shield… it’s not a proper trophy.”
“No footballers or managers take those as a serious trophy.”
Danny Mills says Klopp has won one, not two ‘proper’ trophies at #LFC.

Mills told talkSPORT: “It’s like the Community Shield. It’s not a proper trophy, is it? Come on, let’s be honest. How many players, at the end of the season, go: ‘Oh yeah, I won the Super Cup’ or ‘I won the Community Shield’?
“I don’t think there’s any serious footballers or managers, well maybe Mourinho, that take that as a serious trophy.”
Klopp took the reins at Liverpool four years ago yesterday but had to wait until this year for his first piece of silverware at Anfield as the Reds became champions of Europe for a sixth time, before adding the UEFA Super Cup after their penalty shoot-out triumph over Chelsea in Istanbul two months ago in which Adrian saved the decisive spot kick.
These Liverpool fans on Twitter took umbrage with his degradation of the Reds’ UEFA Super Cup victory:
How would he know? He’s never been anywhere near the level to play for a team good enough to be competing for trophies like super cups

It counts as a major honour on the trophies list, by the standards of football bodies. But cheers some unknown radio host for making it clear for everyone.

Tell Mills to go and say that to Adrian who put everything into that game to win the Super Cup. Why doesn’t he actually talk to the players that won it and then come back to us?!

Danny Mills … would of loved a Super Cup. You can hear the jealousy

How many did you win Danny?
