Liverpool: Fans discuss Jamie Carragher’s comments on ‘world class’ Steven Gerrard

Quotes from Jamie Carragher on how Steven Gerrard carried the Liverpool team following vital departures have resurfaced on social media (via @LFCTransferRoom).
The former centre-back spoke out about Gerrard’s huge responsibility on the 2018 documentary ‘Make us Dream’, which documents the skipper’s career in red.
“It wasn’t going well,” Carragher said after immense pressure was piled onto Gerrard’s shoulders following the departure of key players. “They all thought the same, the 10 players: ‘Let Stevie have it, let him take the penalty’ or ‘pass it to Stevie he’ll shoot’ and that was timesed 40,000 in the ground. ‘Stevie it’s down to you.'”
The 39-year-old Liverpool local spent almost his entire footballing career at his boyhood club, amassing a total of 710 appearances, scoring 186 goals and assisting 114 times. Gerrard also won two FA Cup trophies and the infamous Champions League title in Istanbul in 2005 (via Transfermarkt).
Fans are responding to the resurfaced comments by Carra, with several admitting Gerrard’s whole career involved him carrying the brunt of all the responsibilities. One supporter has said their former captain is the ‘best player I’ve ever seen’, whilst another commented that he ‘does not get the credit he deserves’ for being a ‘world-class’ player.

That’s why Steven Gerrard is counted in the top bracket. Rival fans will count the goals, the trophies but will never realize that the Lampards, the Scholes, the Xavis of the game never did what Gerrard managed to do throughout his career.#YNWA @LFC #StevieG #TacticallyObsessed

That is what makes him so great, he often had to do things all by himself. When he did have really world class players alongside him like Torres or Suarez it showed his ability even more. I can only dream what he would’ve been like in our current side!

I don’t ever want to see Scholes or Lampard compared to him.
They could NEVER.
