Jurgen Klopp isn’t the only member of Liverpool’s coaching staff to have signed a contract extension today, with his assistant managers Peter Krawietz and Pepijn Lijnders also agreeing new deals at Anfield.
The club’s official website liverpoolfc.com confirmed that the pair have mirrored the Reds’ first-team boss in committing their future to Liverpool until 2024.
Would Takumi Minamino be a good addition to this Liverpool side?
Earlier this year, journalist Raphael Honigstein said that Lijnders’ growing influence at Anfield was the reason for Klopp’s former assistant Zeljko Buvac suddenly leaving the club in April 2018 (as per Spox.com, via talkSPORT), a year before the Reds lifted the Champions League under Klopp.
That ended a long working relationship between the pair, with Buvac being Klopp’s assistant for the entirety of his seven-year spells at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund before they came to Liverpool together four years ago.
The 58-year-old Bosnian has not worked in a coaching role since leaving Liverpool and these Reds fans on Twitter don’t seem to be missing him too much:
Klopp can't win without Buvac FC …stupid agenda

Extremely glad the 'Buvac was the brain behind Klopp's coaching' agenda has gone silent

With this news, I just had a curiosity about where is our beloved Buvac, without whom our supporters felt that we would be doomed. Seriously, what is he upto?
