Liverpool: Fans fear the worst as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain spotted with crutches following Club World Cup final - Liverpool

Loads of Liverpool fans are panicking over a potential injury to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, as the England international attended Saturday’s Club World Cup trophy ceremony with crutches and a protective boot.

The Reds fought through a gruelling 120 minutes to finally be crowned world champions in Qatar, as Roberto Firmino’s extra-time goal won the day.

Jurgen Klopp’s side may have thought they had a huge chance to win it before extra-time was required as Sadio Mane was awarded a late penalty, but the referee overturned the decision with help from VAR.

Even despite what was some rather shambolic refereeing though, only one thing is dominating Liverpool fans’ concerns following the win, as plenty are worrying over the damage to Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The 26 year-old, who of course missed nearly all of last season with a knee injury, appeared to twist his ankle as he went down under a challenge, and was visibly upset as he spoke with medical staff.

He did eventually wave the stretcher away and walk off under his own power, but he was then spotted with crutches and in a protective boot after the match.
