Liverpool: Fans were delighted with one aspect of team selection against Genk

A much-changed Liverpool side defeated Genk 2-1 in the Champions League last night to take a step closer to qualification for the knockout stages.

The Reds’ official Twitter channel @LFC revealed the starting line-up with just under 80 minutes to kick-off at Anfield, with the team showing six changes from that which started the weekend win at Aston Villa.

James Milner and Joe Gomez came into the defence for Andrew Robertson and Dejan Lovren respectively, while Fabinho was restored to the midfield along with Naby Keita. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also came back in (and of course grabbed the winning goal), with fans delighted to see some more attacking flair in midfield.

With a Premier League showdown against reigning champions Manchester City to come this Sunday, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp appeared keen to rest some of his biggest names, meaning the more conservative midfield options like Jordan Henderson were left out.

Upon seeing the starting line-up last night, these Liverpool fans on Twitter were quite content with the team that Klopp picked, all drawing particular notice to his midfield selection:
