Liverpool fans have been showering captain Jordan Henderson with praise after he was crowned the 2019 England Men's Player of the Year.

The 29-year-old clinched the award ahead of his international teammates Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane as per the FA, as his achievements highlight what was a stunning year for the Sunderland-born midfielder. He helped guide his team to a trio of trophy wins after lifting the Champions League trophy in Madrid, the Super Cup in Istanbul and the Club World Cup in Doha. This was enough to crown Liverpool's No. 14 as the best English player during the last year of the decade.

His latest win was justified by current and past teammates, as Virgil van Dijk said he was "under-appreciated" and Steven Gerrard described him as the "ultimate pro". He managed to average 1.4 tackles, 3.3 long balls and accumulated a pass success rate of 87.2% (as per Whoscored), which illustrates just how important Henderson was in the Premier League last season. Supporters were delighted with their leader on the field and made their feelings clear on social media.
