Liverpool: Fans heap praise on Roberto Firmino after Club World Cup win

Liverpool fans have showered Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino with praise after he scored the winning goal that helped beat Flamengo 1-0 in the Club World Cup final.
Firmino, 28, netted during the first period of extra-time which was enough to see the Reds crowned world champions for the first time in their history, avenging their defeat to the Brazilian side in 1981.
Leading the Merseyside club from the front in typical fashion, Firmino has now scored in two back-to-back matches for the first time since January, while maintaining the European dominance of the competition.
I tell you what, Firmino does not get the respect he deserves. It’s not even other fans saying he doesn’t score enough (we know that’s not his primary job), it’s some of us. He came up with the goods last night, and he’s a MASSIVE part of what’s made WORLD CHAMPIONS. 🇧🇷❤ #LFC pic.twitter.com/yQBRHdTkQy

Firmino has now scored six goals in 26 appearances this season for the Reds, while also conjuring up eight assists, illustrating what a critical link he is to the team.
Supporters were delighted with the Brazilian’s showing and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he was the “straw that stirs the drink” in the team.
Here you will find some of the best comments from Liverpool fans:
Said it before and I’ll say it again: he is the straw that stirs the drink for that team.

It’s funny how quick people are to forget that Klopp genuinely made this team around Firmino. He started this revolution

I love our Bobby. Be a bit easier on the old ticker if he’d put the game away in the 1st 5 mins of both halves mind 😂

Pure class that lad. Anyone chatting otherwise is not watching the games properly. I was ranting last night that they were rushing their shots and just needed to cut back to avoid the block… and Bobby is the king if cut backs. 👌

This our team, is built on Mane’s back yes firmino is brilliant but since mane arrival Liverpool haven’t finished outside top four! Mane should be Liverpool highest earner! He’s the best but getting little mention and recognition,
