A number of Liverpool fans have hailed Jurgen Klopp after the manager issued a plea to the club’s supporters to observe social distancing guidelines if the Reds clinch the Premier League title.
Following this week’s news that the English top flight will resume from 17 June, Liverpool’s quest to end their 30-year wait for the title looks eminently more achievable, with the runaway leaders needing only two wins from their remaining nine matches to be crowned champions.
The games to be played at neutral venues will be Manchester City v Liverpool, Manchester City v Newcastle, Manchester United v Sheffield United, Newcastle v Liverpool, Everton v Liverpool and the game in which Liverpool could secure the Premier League title https://t.co/Ap6BAQ0Hp3

PA reporter Simon Peach tweeted on Friday (via @SimonPeach) that several of those games could be played at neutral venues at the request of police to minimise the possibility of Liverpool supporters gathering en masse to celebrate their long-awaited Premier League glory. However, Klopp has since urged Kopites not to ignore social distancing measures if their moment of triumph comes next month:
He told beIN Sports [via Evening Standard]: “I heard that there is some talk [about neutral venues], I’m pretty sure that we can solve the situation here as well in Liverpool. I heard a day ago a really good phrase about that we have the best home fans in the world, and now we need the best stay-at-home fans in the world.”

On the day after Liverpool won the Champions League a year ago this weekend, an estimated 750,000 fans thronged the streets of the city to welcome them home (as per Sky News), attesting to the mass public outpouring of joy that the club’s successes can evoke.
Do you think Liverpool fans will avoid mass public celebratory gatherings if they win the league?
These Reds fans on Twitter lauded Klopp for his socially responsible comments, with one fan declaring the manager an “absolute hero”:
Exactly a bit of trust from people would help we just care about getting our name on the title after 30 years of hurt. We can celebrate double next May for the 20th. https://t.co/t571h2yxxq

Klopp just talks sense. He didn’t complain or raise a fuss, he just says the right things because he is a thoughtful man. Blessed to have him as our manager.
